Notice of the one minute silence, Tesco Express, Oldfield Lane North

Ten years ago today I created the 260th post for Greenford 365. To mark the blog’s anniversary I will attempt to post a photo every day throughout 2022.

This Tesco Express stays open until the evening on Sundays and the notice says that the staff will be observing a minute’s silence at 20:00 with the rest of the UK in memory of Queen Elizabeth the Second. Thousands of people have queued to see her lying-in-state at Westminster, but in the suburbs notices in shop windows and flags at half mast have been the evidence of her passing. The relevance of the monarchy in the twenty-first century has been questioned and there have been some protests, but for most it has been just another Sunday. After her funeral all their worries and concerns will still be there.
