Former police station, Oldfield Lane South

Ten years ago today I created the 218th post for Greenford 365. To mark the blog’s anniversary I will attempt to post a photo every day throughout 2022.

Ten years ago Greenford still had a police station, albeit one with reduced opening hours. Local police officers are now based in Northolt and the building has been repurposed as a car dealer’s premises but this is probably a stay of execution. It is next to the former NHS clinic in a prime location for development. There has been a police station on this site for over a century, until this building came into use in around 1930 there was accommodation for police officers and their families as well. One of the last to live here retired and became landlord at the Black Horse pub at the other end of this road. It is ironic that cars, their drivers’ behaviour now one of the main causes of local complaints to police, have replaced them.
