Ten years ago today I created the 211th post for Greenford 365. To mark the blog’s anniversary I will attempt to post a photo every day throughout 2022.
The London Fire Brigade is supporting calls for a ban on cheap disposable barbecues following a series of grass fires. The prolonged hot weather has created the conditions in which these fires can occur easily and there are fears that those enjoying a cook out in open areas, washed down with a few beers, might start them by being careless. If you walk through the fields around Horsenden Hill you will come across scorch marks where someone has started a fire, in this case close to an area where the long grass could carry it towards Westway Cross retail park. Another place favoured by drinkers for a fire is under the wooden footbridge across the Grand Union Canal.
