Old Church Hall, Greenford Road

Ten years ago today I created the 170th post for Greenford 365. To mark the blog’s anniversary I will attempt to post a photo every day throughout 2022.

This is one of my favourite buildings. It is typical of a brick built structure of that era, symmetrical, with the most beautiful details such as the cross made of tile edges and its simple arched doorways and windows. It now serves as the church hall for Our Lady of the Visitation but it was opened in 1937 as the fourth in a series of buildings to serve Greenford’s growing Catholic community, in use until the completion of the modern building designed by David Stokes in 1961. You can read more about the parish history here.
