Ten years ago today I created the 124th post for Greenford 365. To mark the blog’s anniversary I will attempt to post a photo every day throughout 2022.
Last week an indoor cricket facility, with state of the art equipment, opened at William Perkin Church of England High School. Named after Wilf Slack, a Middlesex County cricketer, who died at the age of 34 in 1989, it was opened by his sister, Phyllis. A trust was set up to encourage young cricketing talent in Wilf’s memory and this new centre is the latest step in bringing young players into the sport. It will be available to local clubs in the wider borough of Ealing. You can learn more about the centre by watching the video in this link.
I can’t think of anywhere in Greenford that you can see cricket being played formally but perhaps that will change as more people take an interest.
