IAN, subway, Greenford Flyover, A40 at Greenford Road

Ten years ago today I created the 82nd post for Greenford 365. To mark the blog’s anniversary I will attempt to post a photo every day throughout 2022.

I hoped, in the ten years since I visited this subway under Greenford Flyover to record his memorial, that those responsible for the murder of an innocent pedestrian would be identified and punished in that time. In 2009 Mother’s Day fell on the 22nd of March, when Ian Newtion, known to his friends and fans as Scoobie, was found here. The weapon was a broken bottle and I’ve always wondered if the person who wielded it remembers this anniversary or whether it’s just another day for them. Another day that they’ve got away with it. If you know who they are information can be passed on anonymously to the police via Crimestoppers.

Ian was a singer and he can be heard on this track with Sweet Irie.
