Launderettes remain busy because large items like bulky duvets are just too big to fit into the average household washing machine. This establishment is also in an area with lots of bedsits which guarantees trade. Most have an attendant to troubleshoot, sell soap powder and provide change but it is not unusual to find one where the staff only turn up to open, close and clean it.

what a lovely photo again, looks very retro, of the 50’s era, i can envisage frilly petticoats and circle skirts, of which i was very familiar as i wore them, flat shoes and bobby socks,
I don’t think the design of the machines has changed much since that era. They’re certainly made to last for years.
