The mysterious staircase behind this door probably leads to a private members’ club, its neon palm tree complimented by the ever present stack of bread crates.

in the 50’s 60’s the shop below was the Co-operative ( co-op) and the Hall above was known as the Co-op Hall.
the hall was in very big demand and many families hired it for events, such as anniversary parties, wedding receptions, birthdays and such like, i personally was at several family function in that hall.
The only other local hall available for hire was Betham first school hall. Greenford Hall wasn’t built then. the Methodfist Church hall wasn’t suitable as no drink allowed.
