This lovely window is one of Greenford’s best kept secrets, hidden away in what was once Greenford Hall. Most of the building appears to date from the 18th century and it was home to some of the wealthier residents of the area, including the Roy family, whose coat of arms is featured at the top of the central section of the window. Saved for community use it now holds ESOL and other classes. I wish that I could tell you more about it but there is a shameful lack of interest in Greenford’s architectural heritage and this lovely old building only rates a mention on Ealing Council’s website as a venue for hire. I am indebted to the website of Holy Cross, which is just across the lane from it, for the information as to its date and residents.
