Street sign, Olympic Way

This image seemed appropriate on the opening day of the London 2012 Olympic Games but I doubt if there is a sporting connection here. It probably refers to manufacturing that took place on the site before houses were built here.

  1. Maybe the 1948 Olympics which were at Wembley?

    • I did wonder about that but the only other “Olympic Way” is at Wembley! We think it might be something to do with a type of aircraft called the Olympic as there is an adjoining street called Norseman Way which is the name of a type of plane. This street is in the area of a number of former factory sites, including WW2 ordnance so it could mean anything. I’m hoping someone will come forward with the answer.

Let me know what you think...
