April showers, Uneeda Drive

The British are well known for small talk about the weather.

“You’d never think there’s a drought on.” “What’s all this about a hosepipe ban?!” “I wish the weather would make its mind up!”

The problem is that it would have to rain as hard as it has done for weeks to bring reservoirs to normal levels. The hosepipe ban has put businesses such as garden centres and designers under pressure as householders decide not to invest in plants they can’t water. The drop in temperature has meant that the central heating is back on at a time when gas and electricity is even more expensive. Perhaps the weather is important after all.
