This former confectioners and tobacconist is close to the junction with Ruislip Road and has been shut for some time. Generations of schoolchildren got their sugar fix here before catching the bus home. I hope the next tenant retains the old fashioned shop front.

This post is dedicated to Marie Colvin and Remi Ochlik whose deaths in the Syrian city of Homs were announced today. As I record the ordinary things in my area that may be of interest to others the worst I have to worry about is getting mugged and losing the camera. It is easy to forget that every day, somewhere in the world, someone risks losing their life as they try to make the suffering of ordinary people of interest to others.
