How styles have changed in the fifty or so years between building of the block of flats on the right and the one on the left. I have to admit to preferring the building dating from the 1930’s, it seems far more bold and stylish. The metal framed suntrap windows have not survived – they were difficult to maintain or replace and let in the cold – but the strange combination of medieval bays and the influence of Le Corbusier still works today.
