An interesting blend of the old and the new. This is the entrance to Coston Primary School, which probably dates from the mid 1930’s like much of the housing in the immediate area. There have been a lot of changes since the school was built, not least in the number of pupils whose parents do not have English as their first language, which is reflected in the painted sign. I really love the way the very modern digital sign, that updates parents on term dates and open days, has blended in so comfortably with the ancient coat of arms.
